Grand Central Penguin, New York 1930s

£16.00

When is a cocktail properly chilled? Apparently when it is served by a penguin. Dressed as a waiter.

This charming image is from a 1930s menu from the Grand Central Terminal Restaurant in Manhattan.

Drinks on offer were all rum-based. King sized cocktails costs 50 cents while long drinks such as rum fizzes and rum juleps cost between 60 to 90 cents.

The Grand Central Terminal Restaurant - also known as The Oyster Bar - opened in 1913 and remains famously convenient for travelers and mid-town workers."
