Hotel Statler, Boston 1930s Menu Art

£20.00

This beautiful vintage menu cover in art deco style comes from the former Hotel Statler in Boston and dates from the 1930s. It shows two very elegant ladies and a gentleman at supper. The Statler was constructed in 1925 by the visionary businessman E M Statler whose chain of hotels catered to a population that had become more mobile thanks to the automobile. He was the first to introduce hotel rooms with private baths and he also invented the “do not disturb” sign and complementary newspaper delivery. The Statler was sold in 1976 to the Irving M Saunders family and was renamed the Boston Park Plaza and Towers. This hotel remains a cherished Boston landmark.
