{"product_id":"malibu-inn-malibu-1964","title":"Malibu Inn Malibu 1964","description":"\u003cp\u003eThe Malibu Inn was established in the 1920s on Malibu Road as a hotspot for the biggest names in old Hollywood buying properties in what became known as the Malibu Movie Colony.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn the 1950s it moved to a new location, across from Malibu Pier at 22969 Pacific Coast Highway, taking over the building operated by the Anchor Inn. Photographs of the interior on the internet show the restaurant lined with autographed pictures of Hollywood stars.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis menu is dated 1964. Its charming motto was ‘where the stars meet the sea.’\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFast forward to the 1970s, when the inn’s name was changed to the Crazy Horse Saloon.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNeil Young was a silent partner, and the place became a hangout for musicians passing through town and often featured impromptu performances, contributing to its reputation as a premier spot for live music.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSinger-songwriter Harry Nilsson, guitarist Eric Clapton, singer-songwriter Tom Petty and the wildly eccentric English drummer Keith Moon, who played for The Who, were among those who came by to sit in or perform.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Malibu Inn went through a downturn as new owners took over the property, removing its old Hollywood memorabilia and its vintage surfboards and alienating locals as they attempted to take the property upmarket.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn 2009, the property was put on the foreclosure auction block and was reopened two years later by new owners who revamped the inn yet again, this time honoring its history as a cool music scene.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHowever, this local landmark – not to be confused with the current Carbon Beach Club at the Malibu Beach Inn - is reported as being permanently closed.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCourtesy Private Collection.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003eEach print is accompanied by a copy of the interior menu where available.\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003eAll prints come with a white border, for ease of framing. \u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003eWe make our prints with archival-quality fine art paper, using professional pigment inks.
